Abstract

PURPOSE: To inspect fine stain and abnormality in color tone of a filament package, by a method wherein a package is irradiated with near ultraviolet rays while an irradiation surface of the package is taken through a blue transmission filter.
CONSTITUTION: When the surface of a pirns is irradiated with near ultraviolet rays, fluorescence is emitted from a fluorescent substance contained in fiber. When a stain is on the surface of the pirns, fluorescent color formation is blocked and the surface gets dark. Polyabnormality can be judged easily as presenting a form of stripe encircling the pirns though small in the brightness difference. A line sensor of a camera 10 incorporates a blue transmission filter as needed sufficiently on the short wavelength side to detect fluorescence and limits sensitivity to a fluorescent area to cut effect of stray light from the perimeter reflected on the surface of the pirns. A judging means 100 processes a brightness signal obtained from the cameras 10 to judge stain and abnormality in color tone.
