Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the detection of voltage and electric field by using only one piece of optical fiber with a reflector board provided to reciprocate light between a single crystal board and a 1/8 wavelength board. CONSTITUTION:The light from a light source incides into a single crystal board 20 via an optical fiber 24, a lens 25 and an orthogonal polarizer 22, and after a phase difference proportional to the intensity of the electric field to be measured and a phase difference of pi/4 are given, the latter by a 1/8 wavelength board 21, reflected by a reflector board 23. The light reverses its direction and passes through a light passage with a phase difference pi/4 given again by the board 21 and an equal phase difference to that previously given. The polarizer 22 works as a light detector for the reversed light, and the light having an intensity corresponding to that of the electric field to be measured is led to a photoelectric converter for example via the lens 25 and optical fiber 24. Thereby, the remote measuring of the intensity of electric field for example becomes possible using only one piece of optical fiber.
