Abstract

PURPOSE: To form an insulation coating layer of uniform layer thickness by performing electrolysis in an aqueuous metal salt soln. with a magnetic metal sheet as cathode, thereby forming a deposited layer of metal hydroxide on the sheet.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic metal sheet is a crystalline magnetic alloy such as permalloy or is a noncrystalline magnetic alloy such as iron-group element-vitrified element base. With this shut used as cathode, electrolysis treatment is carried out. Salts of Mn, Fe, Ni, Zn, Co, Al, etc. are used for preparing the aqueous metal salt soln. and its concn. is kept at ≥1mol/l. The corresponding metal hydroxide is preferably about ≤10-2g/100ml at 30°C based on water. The liquid temp. of the aqueous metal salt soln. at the electrolysis is about in a range from room temp. to 100°C. and electrolyzing time is properly determined. Thereby, the uniform deposited layer is obtained. If necessary, heat treatment is further applied to convert a part or the greater part of the deposited layer to oxide, whereby the electrical characteristics of the insulation coating layer are improved and the adhesiveness of the layer is improved. The heat treatment is carried out for about 10W60min at about 100W300°C in air.
