Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a dense and thick-walled chrome-plated product having metallic gloss by using an aqueous soln. contg. specific amounts of chromium trichloride and glycine in chrome plating using trivalent chromium.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. contg. 0.4W0.7mol/l chromium trichloride and 0.6W3 times mole glycine as a complexing agent based on this chromium trichloride is used. It is possible to use, for example, about 0.5W2mol/l ammonium chloride, about 0.5W2mol/l potassium chloride, about 0.4W1mol/l boric acid, and about 0.05W0.2mol/l ammonium bromide, as supporting electrolyte. Besides, assistants such as gloss imparting agents, smoothing agents and the like are possibly added as well. Electrolytic conditions are about 1W3pH, about 20W40°C temperatures, about 15W30A/dm2 cathode current densities, and about 0.5W2hr time, under which the plated product of about several 10μ thickness is obtained.
