Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the breakdown of a break ring by mounting said ring between a mold and a feed nozzle by a predetermined method so as to decrease the tensile stress acting near the connection part between the break ring and the mold at the casting. CONSTITUTION:In a break ring 5 to be interposed between a mold 4 provided horizontally in the lower part of a tundish and a feed nozzle 3, the tensile stress due to the concentration of thermal stress occurred by the large change of the internal temperature in the break ring 5 at the casting acts upon the junction part of the above-mentioned ring 5 and the mold 4 as well as its neighborhood. The abovementioned ring 5 is interposed between the mold 4 and the feed nozzle 3 in such a manner as to impart the compressive stress acting so as to decrease the above-mentioned stress. Namely, a retaining fitting 6 is allowed to contact with the outside circumference of the above-mentioned nozzle 3 and, bolts 7 are tightened through the fitting 6, whereby the above-mentioned ring 6 is pressed and mounted.
