Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the corrosion of laminated face owing to external environments by welding laminated autofrettage double pipes from their pipe end exposed laminated part along the laminated face and metallurgically coupling both weld metals thereby shutting said pipe end part from the atmospheric air.
CONSTITUTION: A thick-walled outer pipe 2 made of carbon steel 2 is inserted onto an inner pipe 1 consisting of, for example, a thin-walled pipe made of stainless steel, whereby laminated autofrettage double pipes 3 are made. Next, the end of these pipes 3 is formed to an oblique butt groove 4' by a suitable means such as mechanical cutting, after which the laminated boundary face 5 of the inner and outer pipes 1, 2 of the exposed faces is welded to a required depth along said face by electron beam welding, whereby it is metallurgically coupled by deposited metal 11. Even after the formation of the pipes (unit pipe) 3 formed in this way, the face 5 of the cut-exposed faces 4' coupled metallurgically by the metal 11 and is held tightly plugged, and therefore even if it is exposed to the atmosphere, there is no possibility for the inclusion of rust to the inner side of the face 5. Cracking, bubbling, etc. of the metal 11 do not occur either.
