Abstract

PURPOSE: To perfectly prevent the magnetic arc blow at the toe of weld through a simple means, by installing the electromagnet for forming the line of magnetic force perpendicularly to the proceeding direction of the welding, within the groove.
CONSTITUTION: The electromagnet 11 of variable magnetism is installed on the back face of the steel sheet at or nearby the toe of weld, for magnetizing the edge of the steel sheet; hereby, the external magnetic field 12 is formed within the groove perpendicularly to the proceeding direction of the welding. Hereupon, the position of above electromagnet 11 can be settled either closely to the toe of weld or within a distance less than about 150mm from the toe of weld. This invention is applicable to any suitable methods for DC are welding without any special limitation, therefore, this invention can be applied to the gas shielded arc welding and the submerged arc welding method like as MIG welding method, the carbon-dioxide welding method, TIG welding method, etc.
