Abstract

PURPOSE: To considerably improve working efficiency by performing welding while applying the plasma arc to the molten pool formed by consumable electrode type arc welding from behind thereby preventing the retreating of the molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: A plasma arc torch 15 is made to follow up right behind a welding torch 14, and irradiates the plasma arc 25 toward the build-up part 8 of the molten metal formed by the welding arc 24. Therefore, the molten metal 6 is prevented from flowing backward by the dynamic pressure of the plasma flow and the heating by the plasma arc 25, whereby a bead 7 surface free from unevenness is formed.
