Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a toner of desired grain sizes in the state dispersed and suspended in water by using an inorg. dispersant which charges to the polarity opposite to a crosslink polymerizable polymer in water. CONSTITUTION:A polymer composition is prepared by mixing a polymerizable monomer such as styrene, a crosslinking agent such as triethylene glycol methacrylate, a coloring agent, iron oxide, an anionic or cationic material which charges the polymerizable composition to one polarity in water, and if necessary, a polymerization initiator, and a charge control agent. On the other hand, an inorg. dispersant, such as colloidal silica, which charges to the polarity opposite to that of the polymer composition in water is mixed with water, and the previous polymer composition is added to this and the mixture is heated to polymerize under stirring at 10<3>-10<6> dyne/cm<2>. Anionic or cationic polymerizable monomers, hardly-water-soluble amines, etc. are used for the anionic or cationic material.
