Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for warming up an engine and recovering operational condition thereof after starting the same by providing a by-pass orifice and a temperature-sensitive valve in the middle of an upper channel for feeding oil to the cam shaft of a cylinder head and thereby expedite the rise in temperature of the oil. CONSTITUTION:Oil in an oil pan 3 is sucked up by an oil pump 2 acting in linkage to a crank shaft 1 and the cam shaft 8 of the cylinder head 7 is lubricated by the oil. In the middle of the upper channel 6 feeding the oil to the cam shaft 8 of the cylinder head 7, the by-pass orifice 14 and the temperature-sensitive valve 15 are provided in parallel with a conventional small orifice 13. Since a large quantity of oil is sent to the cylinder head 7 from both conventional small orifice 13 and by-pass orifice 14 and heated by the heat of the cylinder head, the rise in temperature of the oil can be expedited and the time required for warming up the engine and recovering the operational condition thereof after starting can be shortened, whereby fuel can be saved as well.
