Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect precisely defects on the surface of a body to be inspected by comparing a normally reflected ray from the surface of the body to be inspected with an irregularly reflected ray therefrom. CONSTITUTION:A detector 7 is provided at a position through which the normally reflected ray 4 reflected from the surface of the body 1 to be inspected passes, while irregularly reflected ray detectors 8 and 8' are provided adjacently to the detector 7. The detector 7 connected to an operation unit 9, while the detectors 8 and 8' are connected with each other and then to the operation unit 9. The operation unit 9 operates the ratio of a voltage V1 corresponding to the normal reflected ray to a voltage V2 corresponding to the irregularly reflected ray, discriminates the presence or absence of defects on the basis of a fixed ratio as a reference, and outputs the result of the discrimination.
