Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce contact resistance between a battery and the contact terminal of used device, by composing a positive electrode or a negative electrode vessel used in parallel as an external terminal with stainless steel plates subjected to definite chemical treatment and oily film-forming treatment. CONSTITUTION:One or both of a case 1a, which also acts as a positive electrode terminal 1, and a sealing plate 3, which also acts a negative electrode terminals 3, are formed with stainless steel treated by the following process. The stainless steel plate is treated with an acid solution to remove an un-workable film from the surface, washed with water and dried. Then, one part of the treated surface is coated with an oily film having nonoxidizing property and water-repeling property. Liquid paraffin, nondrying oil having low or medium viscosity, such as machine oil, or soft grease is preferably employed as the oil film. It is suitable to use a hydrochloric acid solution containing 10-25% by weight of HCl or a mixture solution of the hydrochloric acid solution with nonoxidizing acid such as sulfuric acid as the acid solution for removing the un-workable film.
