Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the moisture resistance of a photoconductive layer by coating photoconductive powder with an org. solvent-soluble resin having a specified water absorbing rate or below. CONSTITUTION:Photoconductive powder such as CdS powder is dipped in a soln. of vinylidene chloride resin, polyethylene resin or the like having <=0.2% water absorbing rate in an org. solvent and dried to remove the solvent. The resulting resin coated powder is dispersed in a binder resin such as vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer to form a photoconductive layer, and on the layer an insulating layer is formed to manufacture a photoreceptor. Since the surface of the photoconductive powder is perfectly coated with the slightly water absorbing resin, the receptor has superior water resistance. Electric potential is well maintained even in an atmosphere of high temp. and humidity.
