Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to perform binarization stably with high accuracy in following the video signal level, by the binarization through the use of moving average of the density of noted video element and that of surrounding video element. CONSTITUTION:The digital video signal from an A/D converter 10 is delayed by one line's share with a delay element 11a for one line and delayed by 2-line at a delay element 11b, they are respectively written in the memories 12a-12c for 2N video element's share, and the noted video elements delayed by 1 line are written in the memory 15 for N-video element's share. In an average circuit 13, the density corresponding to each line and that read out after the delay of 2N video element's share call for moving average. The data read out from the memory 15 and this moving average value are compared for binarization. Since the video element before and after the noted video element is reflected on the binarization, the binarization can be made stably on real time with high accuracy.
