Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve power transmission efficiency by controlling the transmission torque capacity conrresponding to engine revolution by using a hydraulic centrifugal governor and a wet clutch and constituting a start clutch with which smooth starting characteristic can be obtained and setting the wet clutch always in connected state.
CONSTITUTION: When accelerator pedal is stepped-in and the number of revolution of engine is increased more than the number of idling revolution, the oil pressure controlled by a centrifugal governor 20 which revolves integrally with a crank shaft 1 increases, and at last a start clutch 31 begins to be connected through a piston 35 against a return spring 38. When the oil pressure increases more, and the relative revolution between the driving plate 32 of the start clutch 31 and the driven plate 33 is lost, the power of the engine is transmitted through the passages: crank shaft 1→driving plate 8→casing 7→start clutch 31→planetary gear pairs 40→output and input shaft 4, and the automatic transmisson is put in the "starting and the first speed" state.
