Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically restart an engine stopped during deceleration or idling, by selectively interlocking an energy recovery flywheel with the drive shaft of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: A flywheel 6, which is interlocked with a clutch disc 7, is mounted on a drive shaft 5 which is interlocked with a crankshaft 1. An internal gear 2, a disc 12 interlocked with a planetary gear 13 etc. and an energy recovery flywheel 10 are provided around the drive shaft 5. The first clutch 22A comprises an oil chamber 20, a piston 21, etc. At deceleration and at idling, the disc 12 is engaged with the wheel 10 by oil pressure acting to the oil chamber 20, thereby rotating the wheel 10. Above a prescribed rotational speed, the disc 12 and the wheel 10 are disengaged from each other but engaged with each other by the electric action of the second clutch 22B to enable the restarting of an engine.
