Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve higher speed of recording by applying the recording voltage of the pulse width changed according to the medium contrast information of image signal. CONSTITUTION:A recording electrode array 1 is so mounted as to make close contact with an electrostatic recording body 3 and an auxiliary electrode 2 is provided in adjacency to this electrode train 1. The recording voltage having the pulse width corresponding to the intermediate contrast information of the recording signal is applied to the selected recording electrodes of the recording electrode array 1 and the sawtooth wave voltage of the opposite polarity in conformity with the recording voltage is applied to the auxiliary electrode 2. In this way, the recording density is controlled and the recording is accomplished.
