Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method of formation of an electrostatic latent image having wide latitude, by applying alternating voltage together with DC bias voltage to an electrophotographic receptor and an electrostatic latent image receiving dielectric while keeping contact between them.
CONSTITUTION: Photoreceptor 10 is made by Nesa treating the surface of glass substrate 11 of 5mm thickness to form electrode plate 12, and further forming about 30μm thick photoconductive layer 13. On the other hand, electrostatic transfer paper 20 is made by laminating electrostatic layer 21 on paperbase 22 treated to make it conductive. A precharging process as shown in the figure is carried out while receptor 10 is kept in substantial contact with paper 20. At that time DC voltage +500V is applied for 0.4sec, and charging voltage is about 135V. The maximal exposure latitude represented by C in the graph is obtained by applying DC bias voltage in addition to alternating voltage in the image exposing process.
