Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the possiblity that metallic parts other than press-welding surface parts melt partially by making the frequency of press-welding current higher than commercial frequency thereby producing skin effect during current supplying period or part of said period.
CONSTITUTION: Welding current is supplied via press electrodes 3, 4 to metallic members 1, 2. If at this time the current of a frequency higher thn commercial frequency is flowed in the members 1, 2 in, for example, the initial period of current supply, the Joule heat generation in the surface layer part 1d of the member 1 and the surface layer part 2d of the member 2 is made larger than that in other parts by skin effect. As the frequency is decreased, the Joule heat generation in the other parts increases. Hence, if the frequency in the initial period of the current supply and the current supply time thereof are beforehand determined in compliance with the materials, shapes, etc. of the members 1, 2, the temp. of the face part 2a are enhanced to an optimum press-welding temp. and be maintained at that temp. before a molten part is produced in the internal part 2b near the press-wedling face part 2a of the member 2. The time for enhancing the skin surface is not limited to an initial period and it is equally well to make it in the entire current supply period.
