Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the hot water resistance of a can body, by preparing a can body made of a tin free steel sheet coated with a primer, and coating the inside surface of the can body a thermosetting vinyl chloride resin.
CONSTITUTION: A can body is made of a tin free steel coated with a primer, e.g. thermosetting epoxy phenol resin. The coating layer is 1W9μ in thickness. A thermosetting vinyl chloride resin composition comprising 40W95pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride resin composition having at least one of hydroxide and carboxyl radicals, and 5W60pts.wt. of a resin composition containing at least one of amino acid and a phenol resin and an epoxy resin, is dissolved in a solvent such as ketone, ester or alcohol. The solution is applied onto the inside surface of the can body by a spraying method. The coating layer is baked 1W30min at 130W300°C onto the substrate. The product shows excellent resistance to hot water and corrosion, even in case where the product is subjected to disinfection treatment unsing hot water or hot vapor at a temperature higher than 100°C.
