Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare two-coat one-bake solvent type coatings and/or powder coatings capable of forming thick coating films having excellent appearance and improved adhesive properties, by adding an anti-foaming agent to the coating composition.
CONSTITUTION: An anti-formanig agent is added to a solvent type coating and/or a powder coating composition. The solvent type coating composition is first applied to a metal substrate if necessary coated with a primer. Subsequently the powder coating compostion, e.g. acrylic resin, etc., is applied thereon, and the coating films thus prepared are simultaneusly baked to give the two-coat one-bake coating films. The anti- foaming agent is pref. higher alcohols, highly polymeric alcohols, metal salts of higher fatty acids, silicones fatty acid esters or benzoylphenyl carbinols. The amount of the anti-foaming agent is preferably 0.1-5 wt.% on the basis of the coatings.
