Abstract

PURPOSE: To wash packings efficiently and accurately and facilitate operation control by extracting the packings for microbe contact from the upper part of the packed layer, washing these then inserting the same into the upper part of the packed layer.

CONSTITUTION: Feed water 1 is introduced into the inflow part 4 of a treating tank 3, from where it is led into a catact packed part 8, where it is purified by the absoptive oxidation decomposition by the microbe membranes stuck on the surfaces of the granular packings 10, thence it flows through a filter packed part 8 and is stored as treated water 11, into a treated water tank 12. Thence, in the case of washing the packings out of this biological treatment, first the water of the inflow part 4 is discharged through a water discarding pipe 13, thence a compressor 6 is operated to produce air bubbles, by which air washing is done. After this, a backwashing pump 14 is operated to pass the treated water 11 and transfer the slurry-like granular packings 10 from a loader for draw-out 24 to a washing tank 16 through a draw-out pipe 15. The packings 10 led into the tank 16 are thoroughly washed by an agitator 32. The packings 10 thoroughly washed in the tank 16 are temporarily stored in a storage tank 17, after which they are returned and packed into the upper part of the tank 3 through an inserting pipe 19 by an inserting device 18 (screw feeder or ejector).
