Abstract
PURPOSE:To accelerate the heat transfer of an oxygen sensor using a zirconia solid electrolyte for molten steel and improve the responding speed of the sensor by coating the outer surface of the electrolyte with metal or metal oxide to improve the fitness to molten steel. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen concn. cell is formed with a zirconia solid electrolyte to manufacture an oxygen sensor for measuring the amount of dissolved oxygen in molten steel. At this time, the outer surface of the electrolyte is coated with Fe, Cu, Ni, Mg, Al or other metal or MgO, Al2O3 or other metal oxide by vapor deposition, sputtering plasma spraying, ion plating or other method, and <=50mu thickness is enough for the metal or metal oxide film.
