Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out continuous separation of oil-water mixt. at a high separation efficiency, by utilizing the cohesion property of oil effectively while oil-contg. waste water passing through filters.
CONSTITUTION: Oil-contg. waste water enters a primary oil-water separation tank 6 through an entrance 23 and passes through an upper filter 18 and then successive filters downward. Oil is adsorbed to the under surface of each filter 18 by the adsorbing property of the filter, and becomes gradually larger particles by its cohesion property, at the next step forming a horizontal oil layer on the under surface of each filter 18. When thl oil-contg. waste water passes through the oil layer, the oil contained in the waste water is adsorbed to the filter 18 by the adsorbing power of the filter 18 for oil, thereby increasing the oil-layer thickness. The oil-layer thickness is further increased by the cohesion force of the oil and a horizontal oil layer grows gradually in each chamber A. Then the oil of the oil layer of a prescribed thickness is recovered through each outlet 22.
