Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a special brass with excellent dezincification and corrosion resistance, tensile strength, elongation and abrasion resistance being obtained by adding a specific amount of P, Sn, Pb to a brass composition.
CONSTITUTION: To brass containing Cu; 57W62wt%, P; 0.04W0.30wt%, Sn< wt% and Pb; 1W3wt% are added. In beta phase brass with above described Cu content range or (α+β) brass, dezincification and corrosion resistance is especially enhanced by adding P and Sn and it's property is moreover enhanced by a stretching process. This material is subjected to hot extrusion at about 700°C and, thereafter, to cold drawing and, at the same time, surface finishing and strain removing treatment are carried out. By this treatment, the texture is micronized as well as mechanical property and dezincification corrosion resistance are enhanced. In this case, Pb to be added enhances cutting property and processability of brass product.
