Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a necessity of pilot burner and to simplify the whole constitution in addition to the same safety function as before by a method wherein an exothermic thermo sensitive element such as SiC, which can be used as any of an ignition heater and a temperature sensor, is utilized both as a burner igniter and as a combustion detector, which detects burning and extinguishing of a burner.
CONSTITUTION: When an interlocking switch acts ON opening a gas cock 54, a control circuit 60 is connected with a power source making a high power current to flow in an exothermic thermo sensitive element 57 self-heating it up to about 1200°C. On the other hand an oscillating circuit D oscillates and an electromagnetic valve 55 is opened igniting a burner 51. Thereafter at the time-up of a charged capacitor 109, the element 57 stops self-heating to become a temperature sensor. When the burner 51 goes out, the registance value of the exothermic thermo sensitive element 57 serving as the temperature sensor is increasing to keep a comparator in the condition On. Responding thereto the electromagnetic valve 55 closes cutting gas supply and a latch circuit works continuously switching and not reigniting as it is.
