Temperature sensor 59 detects that the temperature inside heating chamber 52 is low, electromagnetic valve 55 is opened, and burner 51 is ignited. After ignition, a very small current is fed to exothermic thermo-sensing element 57, the heat generation of the element is stopped and heating is done only by the flame. By maintaining its temperature at about 950°C, the element is used as a flame detector. That is, when burner 51 goes out, the resistance value of temperature sensing element 57 increases sharply, and as a result, it detects that the burner has been extinguished.
