Abstract

PURPOSE: To gas-pressure-weld the steel pipes for piping without hardly producing flares by maintaining the joint part of the steel pipes under the specific pressure between the temperature at which the outside surface of the joint part of the steel pipes becomes red heat and a correct bonding temperature and applying bonding pressure when the correct bonding temperature is reached.
CONSTITUTION: While the respective end parts of steel pipes 1, 1' for piping of a relatively low C contents are being heated with O2-acetylene flame, they are pressure-welded by the following method. Namely, the pressure below 1/2 the minimum tensile strength value for not producing the flare, e.g., 0.15kg/cm2 or less is applied thereto between the temperature at which the outside surface of the joint 2 becomes red heat by this heating and when the inside surface of the joint part 2 reaches 1300°C. When the temperature of the joint part 2 reaches 600°C or more, the pipe outside surface becomes red heat state. Next, when the pipe inside surface of the joint part 2 reaches the correct temperature for welding start of not reaching the melting point and above 1300°C, pressing pressure is applied to the pipes 1, 1'. E.g., the pipes 1, 1' are pressure welded under the pressing force 1kg/cm2 or smaller.
