Abstract

PURPOSE: To fulfill an enough float-up separation function through a simple construction, by providing a stirrer in a passage from a waste water vessel to a float-up separation vessel and introducing air and a chemical liquid.
CONSTITUTION: A stirrer 10 is provided in a passage for supplying waste water from a waste water vessel 1 to a float-up separation vessel 2. A gas feeder 11 and a flock coagulating chemical liquid feeder 17 are provided on the passage just in front of the stirrer. A chemical liquid 18 such as a high-molecular coagulant, which blocks hydrophilic groups to facilitate the coagulation of hydrophobic flocks, is introduced into the waste water to lower the surface potential of suspendible and precipitable substances contained in the waste water to facilitate the coagulation of flocks. Air is introduced into the waste water downstream to the chemical liquid to the water with fine air bubbles to bond numerous fine air bubbles on the substances. The waste water is then mixed with a high-molecular coagulant downstream to the air to grow the flocks to bond the coagulated flocks on the fine air bubbles. As a result, the flocks are changed into easily floated-up scum by the time when the waste water reaches a float-up vessel 2a.
