The frequency is sensed by a frequency sensor 19 through a transformer 8, and the output signal of the sensor 19 and the signal from speed setting adjuster 18 are compared and amplified in a speed control amplifier 17. A triggering signal is applied to the thyristors in the first power converter 2 through a current control amplifier 15, a phase control circuit 14, and a triggering circuit 13 so that the frequency of the terminal voltage of the induction machine 6 becomes a specified value.
