Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect accurately leakage by a simple constitution by detecting a decrease in electric resistance between at least a couple of conductors arranged at an interval on the external surface of a liquid tank.
CONSTITUTION: To the external surface of bottom 11 of liquid tank 1, anodes 4 and cathodes 5 are stuck by turns at intervals. Both those electrodes are constituted by fitting conductors 41 and 51 of high ionization tendency to insulating members 42 and 52. Between electrodes 4 and 5, DC power supply 7 is connected via resistance 6. Even if a little water would leak from tank 1, ions dissolved in water move from conductor 41 to conductor 51 according to a potential tendency to deposit metal on the surface. This phenomenon is repeated to form a short circuit between both conductors. Therefore, the leakage of water can accurately be found by detecting a voltage drop across resistance 6.
