Abstract
PURPOSE: To give stable electric potential to an embedded Al pipe to inhibit corrosion by placing a metallic body as a reference electrode having electric potential baser than that of the Al pipe and a wiry anode along the Al pipe, detecting the direction of an electric current flowing between the Al pipe and metallic body, and turning on a DC power source.
CONSTITUTION: By connecting embedded Al pipe 12 to metallic body 14 having electric potential baser than that of pipe 12 through detector 15, an electric current flows from pipe 12 toward body 14. That is, the current flows in the B→A direction, and points A, B show negative and positive polarities, respectively, so the signal of a voltage rise is sent from detector 15 to DC power source device 13. In accordance with the signal, device 13 is actuated to form a circuit using electrode 11 as a positive pole and pipe 12 and body 14 as negative poles. As the potential difference between electrode 11 and pipe 12 is increased, the value of the current flowing from B to A is lowered. When the potential of pipe 12 reaches that for electric protection, the value of the current between points A, B becomes zero, and the control circuit of device 13 acts to maintain the constant potential. Thus, pipe 12 is always maintained at stable potential for electric protection.
