Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a low-cost heat-accumulating composition having suppressed supercooling tendency, stable heat-absorbing and desorbing characteristics, and high heat-accumulation density, by adding Sr(OH)2, Ba(OH)2, etc. as a nucleating agent to Na2CO3.10H2O.
CONSTITUTION: A composition composed of (A)100pts.wt. of Na2CO3.10H2O and (B) (pref. 0.1W15 parts of) one or more nucleating agents having particle diameters of ≤50μ, and selected from (a) Sr(OH)2 (pref. octa-hydrate), (b) Ba(OH)2 (pref. octa-hydrate), and (c) sodium tetraborate (pref. deca-hydrate). If necessary, a thickening agent such as carboxymethylcellulose or a solidifying temperature-controlling agent is added to the composition to prevent the precipitation or coagulation of the nucleating agent.
USE: Heating appliance for residence, e.g. underfloor heater.
