Abstract

PURPOSE: To obviate the formation of oxide film on the weld face on the can inside surface side by letting the both surfaces of the overlap part of a can barrel molding make contact respectively with the linear electrode on turning electrode surface and longitudinally long electrode surface and turning the turning electrodes under pressure thereby supplying current.
CONSTITUTION: A can barrel molding 5 is conveyed on a mandrel 2 by feed claws 11 and is sent to the top part of a turning electrode 13. At around the time when a cam 20 revolves and assumes a state 20b, the electrode 13 begins to be revolved by a motor 21. Owing to the action of a push-up spring 18, the overlap part 6 of the molding 5 goes in a pressed state into between the longitudinally long electrode 1 and electrode 13 by way of a linear electrode 4. At the same time, current supplying and welding are started and the current supply is kept continued until the overlap part 6 goes past the electrode 13. Upon ending of the welding, the cam 20 assumes a state 20a and at the same time the stopped electrode 13 is pushed down, thus the shifting of the electrode 1 and welded can barrel ceases. Thereafter, the welded can barrel is delivered rightward from the electrode 1 by the feed claws 11. The electrode 1 is water-cooled of the inside and the part 6 surface is welded without rising up to the oxidation temperature.
