Abstract

PURPOSE:To print multicolor type having permanent retentivity on a normal sheet by a thermal printer by providing a band-like member coated with hot-melt ink containing a plurality of colors on the outside surface thereof and a thermal print head at the printer. CONSTITUTION:A band-like member 1 coated with a plurality of hot-melt inks 12a, 12b on its outer surface is partially brought at its outside surface into contact with a recording sheet 2 to be thus elevationally positioned so that the back surface of the ink 12 of desired color of the member 1 makes contact with the thermal print head 3. After a drive signal is applied to the head 3 to thereby heat the member 1 to thus transfer the ink 12 on the outside surface of the member 1 onto the sheet 2, a base 8 is moved along a guide shaft 9 to thereby print the type on the sheet 2. The member 1 thus transferred with the ink 12 is moved to the position facing oppositely with a heating source 7 via a guide 4 and a drive member 5, and heated to a temperature higher than the melting point of the ink 12 to thus coat the hot- melt ink of supplementing members 6a, 6b through the member 1 on the member 1 to thereby recover it.
