Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a toner image to be transferred to transfer material and at the same time to be heat fixed, apparatus structure to be simplified, and toner transfer efficiency to be enhanced, by using an electrophotographic receptor having a photoconductive layer made of amorphous silicon.
CONSTITUTION: For example, aluminum drum 1 is fixed to fixing member 14 in glow discharge deposition chamber 13, heated with heater 15, evacuated from valve 16, valve 17 is opened to introduce Ar gas and SiH4 gas through flow control valves 22, 23, valves 19, 21, 17 into chamber 13 from cylinders 18, 20, respectively, glow discharge is chaused between electrodes 25, 25' by high frequency electric source 24, and thus, amorphous silicon (a-Si) photoconductive layer 2 is formed. On this layer an insulating protective layer may be formed. An electrostatic latent image is formed on this layer 2, and developed toner image 7 is transferred and at the same time, heat fixed with heat fix roller 5 or the like to form an image 8 transferred and fixed. Since a-Si layer 2 is superior in heat resistance and strength, it has durability against heat and pressure in transferring.
