Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of tonermelting of a photoreceptor during transfer by performing the trasfer from the photoreceptor to an intermediate member in a period shorter than the period of for fixing and transferring from the intermediate member to copying paper depending on heat. CONSTITUTION:The toner image 5 of a photoreceptor 1 is transferred to an intermediate member 7 by way of a press roller 11 of a small diameter and the toner image transferred to the medium 7 is heat fixed and transferred to copying paper by way of a heating roller 12 of a large diameter. With this constitution, the transfer period from the intermediate transfer to the copying paper which depends on heat is made shorter than the transfer period from the photoreceptor to the intermediate paper which does not depend on heat. Hence, the melting of the toner of the photoreceptor is prevented at the transfer, whereby the images of good quality is formed and the occurrence of damaging of the photoreceptor is prevented.
