Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in cleaning characteristic, solvent resistance and durability by forming a photoconductive layer composed of amorphous silicon on a substrate and an insulation layer on said layer through hot melting and coating of thermoplastic resin of melting temperature 200°C or more.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a stainless steel drum 1 is fixed in the specified position of the fixing member 3 in a glow discharge accumulation chamber, away from a heater 4. Next, an amorphous silicon layer is formed on the drum 1 by opening a main valve 5 to evacuate the inside of the chamber 2, heating the drum 1 to the specified temperature with the heater 4 then opening flow control valves 11, 12 after subsequent closing of valves 6, 8, 10 to lead Ar gas from a cylinder 7 and SiH4 gas from a cylinder 9 into the chamber 2, and applying high frequencies between electrodes 14, 14' thereby glow discharging to form the amorphous silicon layer on the drum 1.
