Abstract

PURPOSE:To reversely develop a black and white photosensitive material repidly without danger of causing environmental pollution, by processing the material in the presence of a specified compound with a bleach solution containing an inorganic ferric salt, a persulfate, or a ceric salt. CONSTITUTION:At least one or more of 6 kinds of specified compounds represented by formula I or II are used. These are used in such a manner that they are added to a bleach solution or a bath preceding to the bleach process in an amount of about 0.0001 mole per liter of processing solution or more, preferably 0.0005-0.05 mole per liter. In formula I, R1 is H, nitro, sulfon, or its alkali metal salt, amino, hydroxy, or 1-5C alkyl or alkoxy; X is -S- or =NR; and R is H, halogen, or 1-3C alkyl, alkoxy, or carboxy. In formula II, Y is -SM, -NH2, -SR2 or R2 and R2 is 1- 4C alkyl, aryl, or optionally substituted phenyl.
