Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the output linearity, by sealing the both ends via the insulation material and locating the grid electrode between a pair of opposing electrodes sealing the ionization gas internally.
CONSTITUTION: The fine conductive anode 2 and cathode 1 are located, grid shape conductive electrode 5 is located between a pair of electrodes opposing, and the respective electrodes are isolated with the insulator 3 in air-tight. The applied voltage of the anode 2 and the electrode 5 is varied in step and a low voltage is fed to the electrode 5 with the use of proportion region and GM region when the incident γ ray is less. A high voltage is fed to the anode 2 and the output current flowing to the anode 2 is measured with the multiplication at the high electric field near the anode 2. Further, when incident γ ray is much, the same voltage is fed to the anode 2 and the electrode 5, and electrons and ions ionized between the cathode 1 and the electrode 5 are collected as they are without multiplication. Thus, the linearity of output over about 10 digits can be obtained.
