Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the shortage of weld metal and let the weld zone of good appearance be obtained surely by inserting an insert material having a head part provided with a groove for seam tracking and a barrel part of a narrow width in the groove gap.
CONSTITUTION: An insert material 2 consisting of a head part formed with a tracing groove 4 and a barrel part to be inserted into the gap is held in place in the groove gap of the works 1 such as steel plate. A sensor 3 is traced in this groove 4 and the position of an electronic gun 5 is so adjusted as to come to the center of the groove, whereby welding is done. This method makes up the shortage of weld metal, eliminates the dislocation between both plates of weld beads 6 and lets the weld zone of good appearance be obtained.
