Abstract

PURPOSE: To stably form the sound, beautiful sealing bead, by forming grained refractory flux layer and the grained backing flux layer on the backing metal strip, and by pressing these backing materials against the back face of the welded parent metal, and then, by carrying out the welding from upside of the parent metal.
CONSTITUTION: On the backing metal strip 2, the grained refractory flux 3, containing 80% by weight or more rough grain larger than 74μ and 30% or more rough grain larger than 149μ, is spread 2W10mm thick, and on this layer, the grained backing flux 4, containing 50% or more grain smaller than 840μ, 40% or more grain larger than 74μ, and the thermosetting binder, is spread 2W6mm thick. These fluxes and backing strip 2 are pressed against the back face of the welded parent metal 1 using the press tube 6, and then, the welding is carried out from upside of the parent metal 1. According to this method, the tightness of the backing materials against the parent metal 1 is increased, and besides, the tip of the sealing bead does not contact with the backing metal, so that uniform and beautiful sealing bead is stably obtained
