Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible highly accurate thickness controlling by installing an auxiliary cylinder for driving a hydraulic jack for adjusting roll gap on the outside of the housing and controlling the piston position by the detection signal of the piston position thereof and the signal from a rolling load meter. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic jack 9 (10 is its ram) and a hydraulic load meter 12 are disposed within a housing 1 above the back roll choke 7 of the back roller 5 of an upper roller 3. An auxiliary cylinder 30 for driving a jack 9 and the position detector 32 of its piston 31 are disposed on the outside of the housing 1. In the abovementioned apparatus, the detection signal 33 of the cylinder 31 position by the detector 32 is compared with the set value of the cylinder 31 in an operational ampifier 13 and the position of the cylinder 31 is controlled by way of an electromagnetic servo valve 14 from the value of said difference, whereby the position controlling of the hydraulic jack ram 10 is accomplised. At the same time, the signal from the hydraulic load meter 12 is converted with a coefficient device 20, after which this signal is inputted to the operational amplifier 13 to similary control the hydraulic jack 9, whereby thickness controlling is accomplished.
