Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance workability as well as liquid-tightness by forming thin films on the surface of packing by dipping it in a liquid sealant kept under a specific pressure before fitting a metal sealing plate into a packing. CONSTITUTION:The positive electrode active substance 2 composed primarily of argentous oxide (Ag2O) powder, etc., is housed in the metal case 1, and then on the active substance 2, the negative electrode active substance 5 of amalgamated zinc powder packed in the clad sealing plate 6 is provided with the interposition of the separator 3 and the liquid-impregnating material 4. On the periphery of the sealing plate 6, a cell is formed through the packing 7 of polyamide, etc., provided all over it for sealing. Then, before fitting the sealing plate 6 into the packing 7, the packing 7 is dipped in a liquid sealant, e.g., a solution of chlorosulfonated polyethylene, aliphatic polyamine, etc., kept under a reduced pressure of 710- 750mmHg to form the sealant thin film 8 on its surface. The preferred viscosity of the solution is 10-200cps at ordinary temperature.
