Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the title material by mixing a complex cpd. or an alkoxide contg. a carbide-, nitride-, carbonitride- or oxide- forming metal with metal powder and calcining the mixt. or melting it and solidifying the melt to disperse the carbide or the like in the matrix.
CONSTITUTION: A complex cpd. such as acetyl acetonate or an alkoxide such as methoxide or ethoxide contg. one or more kinds of metals selected from carbide-, nitride- and carbonitride-forming metals such as V, Nb, Mo, Ti, U, Zr, Th, Ta, Hf, Al and rare earth elements and oxide-forming metals such as Al, Si, Ti, Th and rare earth elements is mixed with powder of a metal such as Fe, Cr, Ni, Ti, Mo, Nb, V, Co, Cu, Al, Zr or Ag or an alloy thereof. The mixt. is molded and calcined, or melted and solidified, and then optionally worked, thereby dispersing the carbide, nitride, carbonitride or oxide of the metal in the complex cpd. or the alkoxide in the matrix metal to strengthen the matrix.
