Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a low CN concentration of treated water by removing complex CN easily by the procedure in which NH3, H2S and free CN are distilled out of coke oven gas liquid, a quaternary NH4 salt is added to the liquid to insolubilize complex CN, the insolubilized complex CN is separated by flotation with air, and then the liquid is treated with activated sludge.
CONSTITUTION: The gas liquid 1 is sent to the stripper 2 and then heated by the steam 3 to remove most of NH3, H2S, and free CN from the pipe 4, and then the bottom liquid is sent to the flotation-separator 7 where complex CN is reacted with a quaternary NH4 salt (with Zn2+ additionally) from the storage tank 8 to insolubilize the complex CN, and then the insolubilized sediments are aerated by air injected from the compressor 11 and separated with bubbles through the pipe 12. The treated gas liquid at the bottom is sent into the dilution tank 15, diluted with fresh water (or the sea water) sent to the aerator 16 where it is biologically treated, flowed into the thickner 17 where sludge is separated, and then discharged as clarified water.
