Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten an instruction execution cycle time by driving directly the address signal of the register file of a CPU, which is constituted by a microprocessor, by the register output.
CONSTITUTION: The addressing signal of the register file in a microprocessor is driven directly by outputs of registers GRA19 and GRB20. In a micro step just before instruction word processing start, a field used for a general register command in the instruction word is inputted to registers 19 and 20. As the result, the clock cycle of the CPU in instruction execution becomes rapid, and it is unnecessary that a part of the instruction is transferred to registers 19 and 20 by a microprogram, and further, the instruction execution cycle time can be shortened by accessing general register GR designated by the instrcution immediately in the microprogram of the instruction processing.
