Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent oxidation of pouring molten metal and readily obtain sound tubular bodies by providing a gas flow curtain on the pouring side of an inclined metal mold in centrifugal casting and substituting the metal mold inside with an inert gas atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Prior to pouring of molten metal to the inclined type centrifugal casting machine, the inside of an inclined metal mold 1 is filled with inert gas such as N2 to maintain the metal mold 1 inside under the inert gas atmosphere. This atmosphere is maintained during pouring and even after the pouring. Even in the feed path of the molten metal to be poured from a ladle 3 to the metal mold 1, the chances for the molten metal to contact O2 are reduced. Namely, a shut-off device 4 by a gas flow curtain is disposed in opposition to the outside of the opening end on the pouring side of the metal mold 1.
