Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent oxidation of stream by integrally coupling a shielding box forming an inert gas atmosphere to a rounder and perpendicularly providing a heat- resistant cloth to the frame body of the shielding box. CONSTITUTION:At the start of pouring, an inert gas is fed into a shielding box 5 and molten steel stream 4 is passed into the inert gas atmosphere and is allowed to flow into a mold 3. At this time, the upper part of the box 5 is closely fitted to the heat-resistant cloth of a flange member 13, and since the heat-resistant cloth at the bottom end is in close contact with the mold upper face 3a, there is no entry of air and shielded casting is accomplished. If a rounder 6 is slided to the direction right under a nozzle 2 when an accident such as overflow of the mold 3 occurs, the shielding box 5 also slides simultaneously, and the rounder 6 positions rapidly to right under nozzle 2, thus the recovery of the molten steel is accomplished.
