Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve the reduction in the thickness of the deflector and the feasibility of the linear scanning within plane by providing diffraction grating structure to photoconductive films. CONSTITUTION:Hologram plates 10 composed of photoconductive films 12 provided with diffraction grating construction 11 are mounted onto the base member 18 fixed to a revolving shaft 6, whereby a deflector 1 is constituted. As a result of this, the light beam 13 transmitted through the collimate optical system out from a light source 2 is diffracted by the diffraction grating construction 11. The beam having been thus bent of its course propagates in the photoconductive films 12 and emits from a hologram plate end face 14. The exit light 15 thereof is deflected by the rotation of the deflector 1 and is imaged as a spot 20 on the surface of the member to be scanned 19, whereby the scanning in the main scanning direction is accomplished. By the rotation of the member to be scanned 19, the scanning in the sub- scanning direction is accomplished, whereby two-dimensional images are formed. Thereby, the photo deflection is accomplished by high energy efficiency and since the thickness of the holograms 10 is enough with several mu to several 100mu, the intended object is achieved.
